applications based on the World Wide Web. With expertise in optics, web programming and hardware engineering, Sassafras comprises of a team of scientists, programmers and engineers. In this era of an ever growing demand for wireless applications, our goal is to eventually enable individuals, not just sophisticated developers to be able to configure and create their own unique wireless system to suit their monitoring needs. As a collaborative effort with Art Preservation Services, we are developing a showcase monitoring system that remotely monitors conditions in museums, libraries and other institutions where changes within the environment can be a critical concern. The hardware for the wireless platform, RHapid Net, will be a fully customizable ZigBee based system with interchangeable senor nodes that communicate with the Sassafras visualization tools online
